CAKE!

Who would have ever thought that cake could be such a complicated item. At first I didn't even a want a cake, well actually, at first I wanted a Krispy Kreme cake, but after talking about it with David, we decided the tradition of "cutting a cake" is something we shouldn't skip.

So, now it's off to find a baker that isn't charging an obscene amount of money for their baked goods. We want a simple cake. A square, white, no trim, no filling cake. We'll see how much this costs...initial estimates come in between $1.75 and $2.50 per slice...that's $367.50-$525 for A CAKE!

All I know at this point is that people better eat this cake...

We're compatible!

As some of you may know, David and I took a compatibility test as part of our marriage counseling with our pastor, Garth, and his wife Rachel.

Last night David and I excitedly went to their house for dinner and the results.
Rachel is a GREAT cook--I have already told her that she needs to share some recipes with me (so that David can make them--just kidding--well, only kind of kidding).

The results were just what we expected. We scored HIGHEST in Communication--that's right folks--the old "I talk, David listens," must be true. No, but really our 9 years of friendship and dating has been good for that--we do know how to talk.

Other areas of strength included Financial (I am in control of the money and David is fine with that), Children and Family (we know that we want some).

Of course, there were weaknesses, "Growth Areas," but we only had one--"Interests and Hobbies." I know, I know, I need to go fishing with David more and he needs to come with me to my Mary Kay meetings. So, we'll work on that!

More details in the weeks to come!!

Last anniversary

Well, our last anniversary as a dating couple has come and gone. David and I celebrated four years of dating (although it feels like 16) today (Jan. 6). To celebrate, we went out for dinner at Outback (David's favorite--I really don't like the place, but went to be nice). Now, we just wait until we have a new anniversary to celebrate!

Dad called me today because he's busy working on part of our centerpieces--can't give too much away--guests need to be surprised! I will tell you that they have something to do with fishing--I know, big surprise! I can't wait to see the centerpieces when they're all done. They'll look so great on the tables!

What a long week it's been. Definitely time for bed. Maybe next week will bring more wedding adventures!

Save the Date cards

Well, my Save the Date cards have been long done, but the challenge seems to be getting them stamped and out the door!

Now that our invitation list is (almost) final I am hoping to get these cards in the mail tomorrow. Ugg. Let's hope!

List of things still to do:
  • Choose wedding party
  • Choose bridesmaid dresses
  • Confirm flowers
  • Finish centerpieces
  • Choose bakery and cake
  • Find shoes for myself
  • Make necklaces for me and entire bridal party
  • Make salon appointments
  • Order thank you cards
  • Put announcement in East Troy Times
  • Finish wedding registries
  • Make hotel reservations
  • Find cake topper
  • Print favor labels

Not a whole lot to do ;) but enough to keep me busy!

Only 9 months and 3 days to go!

Welcome to my blog

So maybe everyone wonders what planning a wedding is like, or maybe you don't...but I decided to create a piece of history for myself. (Perhaps I should have started this 9 months ago when the planning began!)

We are down to 9 months and 4 days until I become a missus, and things just get more and more exciting by the day!

See you October 7!
